Bearing and distance- City A is 300km due east of city B, city C is 200km on a bearing of 123degress from city B. How far is it from C to A...
Solution
Using the cosine rule formula
a^2= b^2+c^2-2bccosA
So therefore,
b^2=a^2+c^2-2acCosB
b(squared) = 200squared+300squared-2(200*300)cos33
= 40000+90,000-120,000cos33
=130,000-100640.47
=29359.53
b= square root of 29359.53
b=171.34...
